When you start playing Clash off Clans, you begin with 500 gems. By the end of the tutorial, you end up losing nearly 50 gems by completing structures instantly as instructed by the tutorial. If you instead save your gems, you will be able to add extra builders at a quicker rate.

Here are the costs for each builder:

• Builder 2: 250 gems (you add this during the tutorial)
• Builder 3: 500 gems
• Builder 4: 1000 gems
• Builder 5: 2000 gems

While builders 4 and 5 are a long ways off, builder 3 is achievable relatively quickly if you save your gems. Extra builders allow you to construct more buildings at once and as a result are very helpful. With the new Clan War achievements and a trophy push, you can unlock the 4th builder within a few months of playing even without purchasing anything. The 5th builder will require a major Trophy push (to Champion’s League) or more time to unlock some of the other achievements.

Tip #2. Use Cheap Units

One of the biggest mistakes new players make is not considering the cost of the units they use to battle. While Giants are great, they also cost a lot more to use than Barbarians. At higher levels, Dragons are great, but they cost a lot more to use than Giants. There is also the time factor to consider. While Wizards are stronger than Archers, they not only cost more to make, but each Wizard requires 8 minutes. Meanwhile, you could create 4 Archers in less than two minutes (Wizards are a 4-supply unit).

As a result, when your primary goal is to save up resources, you need to make an effort to use cheap units that are quick to produce. The best units to make depends on your Town Hall level; see my Clash of Clans Town Hall Farming Guide by Level for more details.

Tip #3. Only Use Spells When Necessary

Just like units, spells are very expensive and take awhile to produce. While they can be very effective, you need to make sure that the battle you are fighting warrants the use of such a spell. You should know that the Rage Spell starts at 23,000 elixir and the Healing spell starts at 15,000 elixir; each time you use these spells, you need to be sure that using the spell will allow you to earn at least an additional 15k or 23k resources (spell depending).

Tip #4. Slowly Upgrade Your Town Hall

The Town Hall “loot penalty” is one of the most important things to know about in Clash of Clans, yet it is not a publicly advertised feature in the game. It is not even mentioned during the tutorial or anywhere in the game, yet it is extremely important to how the game plays out.

This penalty reduces the amount of loot you can get from enemies if your Town Hall is a higher level than your opponent’s Town Hall. If your Town Hall is one level higher than your enemy’s, you will only be able to steal 90% of the normal amount available for loot. If your Town Hall is two levels higher, you will only be able to steal 50% of the loot. For three levels, only 25%, and for 4 levels or more, only 5% of the total available loot. The penalty is reflected in “Loot Available” – you do not have to do any calculations on your own.

As a result, we recommend getting up to Town Hall level 4 and then sitting in this range while you max out your defensive structures, your army camps, and your research. You can even max out your walls for extra credit before moving on to Town Hall 5. Repeat this process for every level.

Tip #5. Start Matchmaking Early

When you first start playing Clash of Clans, you get a three-day shield. However, thanks to the previously-mentioned Loot Penalty, very few players will want to attack you even if you drop your shield. As a result, you can start matchmaking right away when you need resources with no fear of reprisal. You can skip around and look for a base with exposed resource collectors and use a handful of Barbarians, Goblins, or Archers to attack them.

Even if you do get attacked, low-level Town Hall players have very little to lose. You will only lose a tiny bit of resources that can be more than made up for with a single attack.

Tip #6. Use the “Next” Feature Frequently

When farming either resources or trophies, you should always be skipping around with the “next” button in order to find the perfect base to attack. It only costs a tiny bit of gold to jump to the next base, so make sure you have a good base before you spend all your units attacking one. Also, be careful never to spend every last bit of gold you have on an upgrade – you need to save some gold in order to be able to use the “next” ability to continue farming!

Tip #7. Put the Clan Castle in the Center of Your Base

The Clan Castle is perhaps the best defensive structures in Clash of Clans, but only if you place it in the center of your base. The way the structure works is that when enemy units enter the Clan Castle’s range (it has a very long range), the units will pour out of the Clan Castle and attack the enemy’s attacking units. Note that your Clan Castle troops are capable of hopping over your own walls.

If you place the Clan Castle outside of your base, the enemy can simply lure away the units inside the Clan Castle and easily kill them out of range of your towers. If you keep the Clan Castle inside your base, the enemy will have to take damage from both your Clan Castle units as well as your defensive structures in order to take out your base.

Generally, it is best to ask for Archers to keep in your Town Hall for defensive purposes. This works very well because Archers will often shoot at melee units from behind your walls, allowing them to shoot down Giants and Barbarians without taking damage. Very high level players may choose different units, such as Dragons or Golems, but this requires a clan where members will donate these troops.

Note that this tip really only applies to players at Town Hall 7 or above. At earlier Town Hall levels, you do not have enough buildings to actually prevent the enemy from luring out units in your Clan Castle. Town Hall 7 units can still be lured, but it is tougher. At Town Hall 8 and up the enemy will have to destroy some buildings or a decent number of units to force troops out of your Clan Castle.

Tip #8. Focus on Dark Elixir

Once you reach Town Hall 7 and beyond, your limiting resource will always be Dark Elixir. Through normal play, you typically will max out all gold and elixir-based upgrades long before you acquire enough Dark Elixir to max out your heroes and Dark Barracks troop upgrades. As a result, you need to place a priority on Dark Elixir above all other resources, saving your spells and hero units for when you stand to gain a large chunk of Dark Elixir.

Clash Of Clans 2015 Update

Clash of Clans online is a hot favorite game worldwide and it was initially made for both IOS and Android, and was available on iTune store and G-Play store. Plan-wise, it is an epic combat strategy game where the participants can construct and extend one village, train their personal troops, and can play and fight with other online players. It can be played on mobile, so players can continue the mock battle while on the move.

Actually you might have asked yourself why there hasn’t been anything to all the April 1st “rumors” here on AllClash so far. To be honest I thought everybody should know that these is another April 1st joke from Supercell as they always do on April 1st and not get that bothered about it but after have gotten tons of mails and PMs I finally decided that it might be the time to get some details on this wrapped up in a post.

Will there be a April 2015 Update?

The good news is that Supercell also did an April joke last year shortly before announcing Clan Wars. I personally am not that sure that we will see the next Clash of Clans Update in April as the last Update was end of February and Supercell was taking about 2 month between Updates at least. Please mind this my personal opinion but I think we will see another event or even Sneak Peeks by the end of the month.

Bruno Mars' mother dies of brain aneurysm

Los Angeles (CNN) -- The mother of Grammy-winning singer Bruno Mars died of a brain aneurysm in a Honolulu, Hawaii, hospital Saturday, a Mars representative told CNN Sunday. Bernadette Hernandez was 55.

Mars -- born Peter Gene Hernandez in Hawaii 27 years ago -- was just 4 when he began performing in his family's show as an Elvis impersonator.

He moved to Los Angeles as a young adult to write and produce for other artists, but his last three years have been his most successful.

His debut album for Atlantic Records, "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," includes "Just The Way You Are," which won him a Grammy for best male pop vocal performance in 2010. The album and his hit single "Grenade" were nominated for three Grammys in 2011.

His second album, "Unorthodox Jukebox," includes the hits "Locked Out of Heaven" and "When I Was Your Man."

Mars is set to resume touring on June 22, but it was not immediately clear whether the concert schedule would be affected by his mother's death.

One Eye on Art, the Other on Water

When Adam D. Weinberg was planning a new home in the West Village for the Whitney Museum of American Art, he did not expect to have to worry about waterproofing walls or finding a hydro-engineering firm that makes watertight hatches for the United States Navy.

But then Mr. Weinberg, the Whitney’s director, also didn’t expect Hurricane Sandy.

The storm hit the Whitney hard, just as construction had started on the museum’s new home by the Hudson River, flooding the basement with 30 feet of water and ensuring that weather protections would become nearly as important as aesthetics.

Mr. Weinberg talked about these changes during a tour on Wednesday that offered a first glimpse of the building designed by Renzo Piano and expected to be completed in 2015. The new Whitney, Mr. Weinberg said, will be a temple of American art and a model of storm protection.

“It’s the worst thing that ever happened to us and the best thing,” Mr. Weinberg said. “We will now have a building in which we can be assured that the art will never be at risk.”

Fortunately for the museum, work had not progressed very far before the 2012 storm, and the construction equipment was insured. Moreover, the Whitney had taken some precautions because its location, at the corner of Washington and Gansevoort Streets, was just a block from the river. While most museums keep their art-handling activities below grade, the Whitney put them on the fifth floor. “We always knew it was a vulnerability,” Mr. Weinberg said.

Nevertheless Sandy did force significant adjustments. The water had risen a foot above the 500-year flood plain, Mr. Weinberg said, so the museum searched the world’s leading hydro-engineering firms — including those in watery places like the Netherlands and Venice — for help. It settled on the German firm WTM, which partnered with the Franzius Institute at Hanover University, which specializes in storm modeling.

“They did an analysis of water conditions, wave conditions,” Mr. Weinberg said. “They came up with a plan for us to bolster and retrofit the lobby and basement to make sure we could withstand far beyond what happened in Sandy.”

Now the building will have a temporary barrier system — an aluminum wall with steel footings that can quickly be assembled around the perimeter — and the Whitney will conduct flood drills once or twice a year. The northern glass wall will be waterproofed. And both the loading dock and west entrance will have watertight doors, designed by Walz & Krenzer, which made high-pressure doors for Chevron’s “Big Foot” drill rig and a watertight hatch for the Canadian Coast Guard.

To pay for this, the museum has increased its capital goal by $40 million, bringing the project’s total expense to $760 million, including endowment and other costs. Mr. Weinberg said 77 percent of the total had been raised. About half of the additional funds will pay for flood mitigation, Mr. Weinberg said; the other half will cover unexpected costs.

Mr. Weinberg detailed these developments as he walked through the site, riding the construction elevator to the top floor, which offers views of the Statue of Liberty. He was clearly most excited to show off the art-related aspects of the project taking form around him.

These include a fifth-floor temporary exhibition gallery, which will be perhaps the largest column-free exhibition space in the city and has floor-to-ceiling windows at the east and west ends.

“It’s the first thing you can see coming down the street,” Mr. Weinberg said. “So you’ll know it’s a building about art.”

Four terraces will serve as outdoor galleries, doubling the museum’s total exhibition space to 63,000 square feet, and will feature plantings. Piet Oudolf, the garden designer for the nearby High Line, has been hired as a consultant.

The museum’s ground level will be entirely open to the public, including a free gallery space, an outdoor cafe (which Mr. Piano refers to as “the piazza”) and a Danny Meyer restaurant.

“People can get a taste of the museum” before deciding to buy a ticket, Mr. Weinberg said. “It feels like a community space.”

When the Whitney moves, its landmark Marcel Breuer building on Madison Avenue will be used for at least eight years by the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a place to showcase its modern and contemporary art.

Mr. Weinberg said the new Whitney pays homage to Breuer’s brutalist design, namely its use of industrial materials like the concrete core that holds the building’s mechanicals and the central staircase.

“It’s rough, robust, but at the same time has an elegance to it,” Mr. Weinberg said.

Unlike the heavy blockiness of the Breuer, which Mr. Weinberg described as “castle-like,” the rest of the new Whitney aims to be more transparent, welcoming and connected to the neighborhood. The galleries will be warmed by wooden floors made of recycled pine from old factory buildings. The central staircase will be walled in by glass, allowing visitors to look out to the river at every level.

And if another storm does come this way, the Hoppers and DeKoonings will be out of danger, Mr. Weinberg said, 60 feet above the lobby level.

“If the water comes up that high, I’m sure Manhattan is gone,” he said. “And we’ll have a lot more to worry about than art.”

New Species of Bird Is Found in an Unlikely Location in Cambodia

BANGKOK — The discovery of new fauna conjures up images of Livingstone-like explorers trekking through malaria-infested jungles. But scientists working in Cambodia have reported a new species of bird in a decidedly less remote environment: the outskirts of Phnom Penh.

Simon Mahood, the lead author of an article released Wednesday in the Oriental Bird Club’s journal Forktail, says the bird’s primary habitat is about a 30 minutes’ drive from his home in Phnom Penh, “allowing for traffic.”

“I’ve always wanted to discover a bird species, but I never expected it would happen like this,” Mr. Mahood, who works for the Wildlife Conservation Society in Cambodia, said by telephone from Phnom Penh. “I certainly didn’t expect to be standing in flip-flops and shorts a half an hour from home.”

Roughly the same size as a wren, with white cheeks and a cinnamon cap, the bird was named the Cambodian tailorbird by the team that documented the discovery. Tailorbirds get their name from the way they build their nests, by threading spider silk or other fibers through a leaf, creating a sort of cradle.

Around the world, perhaps a half dozen new bird species are identified a year. In this case, the authors ascribe the discovery to a sort of ornithological peace dividend in Cambodia: after decades of conflict in the country, scientists are now able to study the country’s natural diversity without the dangers and distractions of civil war.

There are 12 other species of tailorbird, but the Orthotomus chaktomuk, the scientific name for the discovery announced Wednesday, is distinct in plumage and genetic makeup, Mr. Mahood said.

The first recorded netting of the Cambodian tailorbird was serendipity. Researchers studying whether avian influenza could be transmitted through small birds captured, photographed and released a Cambodian tailorbird in 2009 without realizing it was a new species. Mr. Mahood was intrigued by those photographs and subsequent ones and began the study that led to the discovery.

The Cambodian tailorbird was the second major Cambodia-related discovery announced this month. Last week, Australian archaeologists said they had confirmed the existence of a city, now buried in jungle, that was contemporary with the ruins of Angkor Wat. Scientists used lasers deployed from helicopters to uncover the network of canals and roads.

An Innocuous Play, a Gruesome Injury

INDIANAPOLIS — It happens in every game, thousands of times in the course of a season. A player breaks free for an open jumper. An off-the-ball defender jumps at him. Whether the shot falls or not, both players run back downcourt and play on.

For Louisville’s Kevin Ware, a 6-foot-2 sophomore reserve guard originally from the Bronx, that innocuous play in the N.C.A.A. Midwest Region final ended with a gruesome injury. Ware broke his lower right leg in two places as he landed near the Louisville bench with 6 minutes 33 seconds left in the first half of the Cardinals’ 85-63 victory.

Louisville Coach Rick Pitino said that Ware was expected to have surgery Sunday, and that it would take a year to recover. “It was very difficult to look at and watch,” Pitino said. “But he’s a brave young man, because all he kept saying was, ‘Win the game.’ ”

In a first half loaded with physical play, Louisville rattled Duke with a full-court press, making the Blue Devils work for every shot. Ware, who averages 4.6 points, converted a 3-point play in a brief appearance. He returned with 8:09 to play in the half.

The Cardinals led by 21-17 when Duke’s Tyler Thornton broke free for a 3-point jump shot from the right wing. Ware dashed from the edge of the foul circle and jumped at Thornton to try to block the shot. Spinning in the air, Ware landed with all his weight on his right leg. The lower part of his leg buckled unnaturally, and he slid into the Louisville bench. He lay on his back with the lower leg dangling grotesquely, broken at the middle of the shin.

“When he landed, I heard it,” Smith said. “Then I saw what happened come out. And I just fell.”

Pitino said a broken bone punctured the skin. “I went over and was going to help him up, and then all of a sudden I saw what it was,” he said. “And I literally almost threw up. And then I just wanted to get a towel to get it over that.”

Thornton yelled and grimaced. “I was freaked out,” he said. “He lifted his leg in the air and I saw where his leg was broken. It was bent in a weird way it shouldn’t have been.”

As Cardinals trainers surrounded Ware and covered his leg with towels, Louisville’s Smith, Wayne Blackshear and Chane Behanan fell to the court, crying. Behanan, Ware’s close friend, dropped to all fours. Pitino wiped away tears. Blackshear helped Behanan to his feet, and Gorgui Dieng, himself visibly shaken, put an arm around Behanan to console him.

“When he went down, oh my God, it scared me,” Behanan said. “I never cried for nobody like that. Kevin is like a brother to me. We’re always together outside of basketball, just doing things.”

After about nine minutes, medical personnel slid a board underneath Ware. Louisville players were huddling near midcourt when Pitino called them over — Ware wanted to tell them something before he left.

“He was laying down, crying and saying: ‘Win it for me, y’all. I’m good. I’m going to get surgery and be back at it like I never left,’ ” Behanan said.

Moments later, while the crowd chanted his first name, Ware was lifted onto a stretcher and wheeled away. He was taken to Methodist Hospital. When play resumed, Smith pulled the top of his jersey across his face to wipe his eyes one more time.

“It was really hard for me to pull myself together, because I didn’t ever think in a million years I would see something like that, and it happened especially to a guy like Kevin Ware,” Smith said. “I was completely devastated.”

The former Washington Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann, who sustained a grisly leg fracture in a 1985 “Monday Night Football” game against the Giants, wrote on Twitter: “Watching Duke/Louisville my heart goes out to Kevin Ware.”

The halftime locker room was solemn, Behanan said. The second half was no contest. Louisville shot 59.3 percent and scored 50 points to win easily.

“I think 9/11 and the loss of a child were probably the two most difficult things in my life,” said Pitino, who lost an infant son to congenital heart failure in 1987 and his brother-in-law, Billy Minardi, in the 2001 World Trade Center attacks. “This was very traumatic for us to overcome, because we all witnessed it right up close.”
